Remembering Kenny
I met Kenny 4 years ago with my boyfriend, Tony Toye, and his group of hunting friends. Kenny opened up his home for us to stay with him for the 10 days we hunted the area for snow geese & ducks.
I had never been to Saskatchewan before so I was very excited. I was a little nervous about being the only female in the group. However, I will never forget how welcomed I felt when I met Kenny. No one has ever made me feel more at home than he did!! I remember telling Tony that I thought he was one of the nicest men I had ever met!! He couldn't have been anymore accommodating & friendly to me if he tried.
I remember the last day of my first trip there when he gave me a little pin of the Canada Flag. I treasure the pin & the memories of him giving it to me. I could tell it meant a lot to him to give it to me but it meant even more to me!!
I wish now I would have spent more time with him while I was there. He took his time to tell me many of his lifetime stories. The one I remember most is when he met the Smith & Wesson family. He was so proud of it. He would tell me stories of his prize Charolais cattle, and the great times him and his wife had showing them.
I was so looking forward to visiting with him this fall. I was sad because I knew it wouldn't be the same, because for the first time we wouldn't be staying with him. I have to believe that it was very hard for him to move into town away from all the memories of his wonderful farm.
Kenny, I miss you very much & wish you were still here to spend more time with and listen to your wonderful stories. You were truly on of the most gracious & nicest men I have ever met. Thank you for sharing your home and memories with me, I will never forget them.
Thank You for ALL the Wonderful Sweet Rolls you would order & pick up for us!! They were so good!!
Miss you!
Michelle
