Obituary for Doug Gegner

September 12, 1947 – April 28, 2023
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Doug Gegner April 28, 2023, at the age of 75.
Doug was born Sept. 12, 1947 in Watrous Saskatchewan into a family with seven boys. He attended school in Boulder Lake Rural school, Lockwood and Lanigan High School.
After graduation, Doug worked with his dad and mom on the family farm (12 miles east of Watrous) until he retired in 1993 to move to Watrous, where he remained until his passing.
Doug enjoyed his retirement spending time on coffee row with many friends, watching sports, and visiting with family especially his nephews and nieces. Doug was a great community historian, enjoyed reading about local history, and reminiscing with friends and family.
Doug was predeceased by Lawrence & Louise Gegner (parents), Rudy, Bruce, and Mark (brothers); and Marie (sister-in-law). He is survived by brothers, Larry, Bryan, Clayton (Joan); sisters-in-law, Arlene and Darlene; several nephews and nieces, Kevin (Monique), Jeff (Paula), Trent (Twyla), Crystal, Josh (Jamie), and Caitlin (Steve).
There will be a private family graveside service at a later date. For those so wishing, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Interlake Human Resources or Manitou Lodge Auxiliary or Activity Department would be appreciated.
