DENGLER: Richard

It is with heavy hearts that we, the family announce the passing of Richard John Dengler on January 16, 2023 at his home with Bernice, Keith and Lee Ann at his side.
Richard was born on July 24, 1943, to Anna and William Dengler. He was raised on the farm and received his education at rural Kingsbridge School and McCellan School in Young, Saskatchewan In 1961, he went to Saskatoon to work assembling and delivery for a furniture store. However, farming was what he loved and he returned to the farm to join his father in the spring of 1962. He married Bernice Volk on April 5, 1962 and lived in Young until the following year when they purchased a farm one quarter of a mile from his father’s farm.
They had three wonderful sons. Due to heart failure, he retired from farming and moved to Watrous and his sons Rick and Keith continued the farming tradition, He felt at home in Watrous and enjoyed the many new friends he made there. The cabin at Wakaw Lake was his pride and joy where he spent time with family and friends cooking his famous steak over the wood fire. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to him and gave him reason to live during his difficult times.
Richard was predeceased by his son Bradley (1984), his parents William and Anna Dengler and his in-laws Joseph and Barbara Volk.
