Armand died peacefully surrounded by his family on November 16, 2022, at RUH Hospital in Saskatoon. He was born November 18th, 1948, at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon, SK. Armand was the 4th child of 13 children born to Joseph (Raoul) Clavelle, and Marie (Brochu) Clavelle.
Armand attended Golden Hill country school, Plunkett School, St. Alphonse School, and Viscount Central High before moving to Edmonton and completing his grade 10 & 11 at St. Anthony's College. Armand returned home to complete grade 12 and graduate in his hometown of Viscount. After High School Armand attended Kelsey Institute in Saskatoon and completed his Biological Science & Technology Diploma (71'). It was during his post-secondary schooling that he met his wife Deborah Munroe. 1971 was a big year for Armand he graduated College, got married and moved to Winnipeg to start his career at Canada Agriculture Dairy Division.
On September 25th, 1973, Jennifer Anne was born in Winnipeg; shortly after Armand, Debbie, & their new family moved back to Saskatoon where Armand began working with Canada Agriculture Research. Armand & Debbie welcomed their 2nd child Brendan Andrew on October 19th, 1974. In 1974 they made the move from the city back to the Plunkett/Viscount area and began farm life. Armand began his grain-farming venture with 2 brothers, Roger & Denis. Armand also worked at the Lanigan Potash Mine until 1979, at which point he decided to turn his focus to farming. On March 9th, 1978, Ian Patrick was born. In 1985, Armand & Debbie ended their grain-farming venture and purchased the Plunkett Hardware where he ran the store until relocating the business to Viscount in 1993. The Viscount Stop & Shop was Armand's mainstay for the better part of 3 decades, there Armand & Debbie served the community with hardware, grocery, tire shop, fuel, & liquor services. Armand was well known for his after-hour calls to a farmer broke down in the field or to the traveler passing by in need of fuel. He and Debbie moved their house into Viscount in 1996, which allowed Armand to be more involved in the community.
Armand worked hard but thoroughly enjoyed his time spent with family and friends; quadding, hunting, fishing, & bowling. Armand was a pillar in the communities of Viscount and Plunkett and served on many committees and organizations, he was on the Fire Dept in Plunkett, Knights of Columbus, both the local and Division School Boards, SK. Wheat Pool Commission, Town Council, Viscount Rec Board, Library Board, Dancing Sky Theatre Board and in many other community groups. He was very proud of his annual Golf Tournament that he planned with proceeds to the Rec Board.
Armand’s strong faith was rooted in the St. Alphonse Parrish where he was always involved to the highest level, most notably in the church choir. He had a passion for music and his love of singing was well known to all those close with him. Armand lived to serve others, he was a true example of community and charity; he most often put others before himself and never missed an opportunity to go above and beyond to help someone in need.
Armand has impacted many people in his time, but most profoundly his family. He was deeply devoted to his family and loved spending time with them. His devotion to family was propelled to its highest level when he became a grandfather. He was blessed with 9 Granddaughters and enjoyed every moment spent with them and built special connections with each of them.
