Obituary for Lorrain Baade
BAADE: Lorrain
January 10, 1927 - October 9, 2022
Lorrain Baade, age 95, passed away peacefully October 9, 2022, at the Long Lake Valley Integrated Facility in Imperial, SK. She enjoyed excellent health until Alzheimer’s claimed her final years.
Lorrain was born January 10, 1927, in Nokomis, SK to Gordon and Bessie (Loucks) Raymond, the eldest of 4 children. She lived at the family farm until age 13 when the family relocated to Regina. Lorrain went to Scott Collegiate and upon graduation went to Normal School in Moose Jaw. She taught in a one room schoolhouse in Craik then took a teaching position in Imperial. Lorrain met Herman, a local farmer, and they were married March 17, 1951, in Regina. Lorrain and Herman were blessed with 5 children and supported them in numerous musical, sporting, and other activities.
In later years, Lorrain enjoyed teaching ceramics, golfing, playing bridge, watching birds in her yard and on the prairies, and of course spent precious time with grandchildren. She was a long time Eastern Star member, spent countless hours volunteering in the community, and was a wonderful cook and baker as many in the community can attest to!
Lorrain is survived by her children: Evelyn (Joe) Seymour, Ruth (Rick) Pritchard, Laura Lee (Martin), Cyril (Carol) Baade, and Marian (Gord), 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Herman, her special friend Earl Shirkey, and siblings Gord Raymond, Joyce Stokes, and Ken Raymond.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2022, at St. Andrew’s United Church in Imperial with Reverend Ray Purdie officiating. Private family interment in Imperial Cemetery.
