Carl Pedersen, aged 86, passed away at Manitou Lodge, Watrous, SK, September 17, 2022.
Carl was born to Carl & Anna Pedersen in Star City, SK. He was the youngest of 8 children. His parents and 6 siblings immigrated to Canada from Denmark in 1928, with his eldest sibling remaining in Denmark with their Grandmother. The Pedersen family moved around a lot, throughout Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario.
May 21,1960 Carl married Miriam Bergsveinson in Wynyard, Sk. They moved to Winnipeg, MB where Sharolyn Elizabeth was born Nov 20, 1961. 1962 they moved to Regina, SK where Shaun Carla was born Sep 15, 1963 and Darren Kirby was born September 5, 1966. Carl was employed at IPSCO and began his backhoe operating career with a friend forming C&G Trenching working weekends and holidays.
In 1975, the family moved to Simpson, SK where Carl became the local backhoe operator (Owner/Operator of Pedersen’s Trenching) cleaned corrals, worked at the hockey rink, ran a small cattle operation and worked for his neighbour during seeding & harvest for several years. Farming was his passion, he loved the land, the animals, and the solitude. Carl loved animals, and being with his cows and horses was his happy place.
Carl is survived by his wife of 62 years Mernie; his children: Sharolyn Pedersen (Ron Grue), Shaun Carpenter (Gord) and Darren Pedersen (Tracy); grandchildren: Trevor Easton, Jason Easton, Stephanie Nimchuk, Nicole Mooney, Mallory Sprawson, Jolene Saelhof, Toni Pedersen and Alex Pedersen. Carl and Mernie also have 17 great grandchildren.
Carl was predeceased by all of his siblings, Ellen, Sigrid, Karen, Ole, Peder, Ester & Erland.
A Memorial Service will take place at at Fotheringham Funeral Chapel, Watrous, SK on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. Interment will take place in Simpson Cemetery at a later date.
