Terry played piano by ear as well as accordion. Music was always involved in any family function. Terry came from a musical family with many instruments being played. She went to York School in Meacham and continued school in Saskatoon at Our Lady of Sion Academy. Went into the nursing program in Saskatoon in 1955 and graduated in 1956. Was in the first CNA Graduating class in Saskatchewan. The CNA designation was later changed to the Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN). Terry worked in the Watrous Hospital for a few years.
She met Bert and married on March 28, 1959 at Watrous United Church. They lived on the farm in Renown. Terry became mother of two daughters and the family moved to Watrous in 1972. Terry began working at Manitou Hotel for many years. Terry enjoyed softball and was usually found behind the plate as the back catcher. During the winter months she enjoyed curling. Terry did a lot of bonspiels and regular curling at the rink. She also loved to go to the Briars, Scotties, Tim Hortons & whatever was on TV. Terry was a member of the Watrous Kinettes and later K-ettes. The clubs were involved in a lot of community events and she volunteered to work at these events. Terry loved to be in her garden and had lots of flower baskets. She canned and baked. She liked to entertain family and friends. Summer time camping was important and lots of time was spent at Manitou District Regional Park. Many large family gatherings took place at the house. Terry made sure, there was always lots of food and music and lots of laughter. Terry did some travelling and loved Hawaii the most. She enjoyed bingo and had some casino trips. She was always going somewhere or just back from somewhere. In between of all of this she was a farmer. She was the truck driver and grain hauler. She also made meals and delivered meals during harvest. She even had time while hauling grain to potty train her granddaughter on an ice-cream bucket in the field. At gatherings at the house there could be up to 10 or more trailers set up. Families would be sleeping in their vans and tents and lots of live music with amps where we would get complements the next day on all the wonderful music from many neighbours.Terry was a wonderful woman who loved her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Terry’s family would like to thank the Chez Nous staff and nurses at Dr. F. H. Wigmore Regional Hospital and Watrous District Health Complex for their wonderful care.
