Obituary for Margaret Schroeder

SCHROEDER: MARGARET
January 26, 1927 - April 6, 2022

Margaret Schroeder (nee Braun) was born on January 26, 1927 to John G. and Maria (nee Dyck) Braun. She grew up on a farm near Guernsey, SK. and attended Grovenland School.

To enrich her life she attended Rosthern Bible School in 1947-48 where she found peace with her Lord and Savior. She was baptized on June 17, 1945 in North Star Mennonite Church in Drake, Sask. and was accepted as a member.

As a young girl she did domestic work for a couple of years. Then she worked in Swift Current Union Hospital as an assistant in Physiotherapy and in the Business Office. Then she worked as a Geriatric Aide at Last Mountain Pioneer Home in Strasbourg, SK and later at Central Parkland Lodge in Lanigan, SK.

On November 22, 1969 Margaret was married to Andrew Schroeder in the North Star Mennonite Church. Together they lived in their home, where Margaret also enjoyed her retirement and attended church regularly. She loved the outdoors, gardening, fishing, camping, and also enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

On February 8, 1996 Andrew passed away. Margaret continued living in her home in Drake, SK. On March 15, 2022 Margaret moved to Central Parkland Lodge in Lanigan.

Margaret passed away on April 6, 2022 after suffering a fall and broken hip.

Margaret is survived by her sister Lena Kornelsen; sister-in-law Ruby Braun; and many special nieces and nephews; step-daughter Marjorie (Myrven) Kline; step-grandchildren Carolyn (Floyd) Bartel, Jeffrey (Heather) Kline, Brent (Pam Cote) Kline, Scott (Jackie Wiesner-Mensch) Kline; great-grandchildren Brandi (James) Dyck, Tanya (Eric) Stinson, Calvin (Leah) Bartel, Jewels (Matthew) Szpakonski, Christian (Brittany Kashuba) Kline, Diamond (Riley Colhoun) Kline, Amy Kline, Bryce Kline; great-great-grandchildren Judah, Harmony, Arileigh, Arya, Cameron, Briar, Georgia and Rusty.

She was predeceased by parents, John G. and Maria Braun; husband Andrew Schroeder; brothers and spouses John and Anne Braun, Cornilius and Josie Braun, Art and Dore Braun; brothers Chris Braun, Edward Braun; sisters Anne Braun, Naomi Ferguson; brother-in-law Bill Kornelsen; niece Merilee Kornelsen, and step-granddaughter Heather Kline.

A Memorial Service will be held on April 30, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the North Star Mennonite Church in Drake, Saskatchewan, Interment at North Star Cemetery.
