SMITH: Robert J. (Bob)
January 12, 1943 – March 8, 2022
Robert (Bob) Smith, aged 79 years, passed away at his residence in Watrous, SK on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. Bob was born to Lenora and James Alfred Smith in Wilkie, SK on January 12, 1943. As a kid, his favourite thing to do was play hockey. As an adult, Bob’s passions included food, politics, law, hockey, football, food, baseball and more food. Bob leaves behind four children: Pamela, Lynn, Michael and Jillian; eight grandchildren - Ory, Colby, Robbie, Daniel, Ryland, Keevan, Lee and Dax, and three great-grandchildren - Cooper, Marcus and Amara. Bob was so proud of each of them. He would tell anyone who would listen how smart, and talented they all are. And he loved going to see his grandson’s various sports games and graduations. Bob’s legal career spanned decades. He graduated from law school at the U of S in 1980. One of his proudest moments was when he was appointed to be a judge in 1987. Throughout his career he was a prosecutor, a provincial court judge and a defence lawyer. Bob was predeceased by his parents and his sister-in-law Rose Marie Smith. He is survived by his older brother, David, David’s five children, and numerous great-nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at the Wilkie Municipal Cemetery on Saturday, June 25, 2022.
