Obituary for Mary Ann Luella "Mae" Crittenden (Kirk)

Mary Ann (Mae) Crittenden
August 9, 1932 – October 29, 2019

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Mae Crittenden. She is predeceased by her parents, Mary and Jim Kirk, her younger sister, Elaine Sowden, and her loving husband of 61 years, Hugh.

Mae loved nothing better than to be surrounded by her loving family. She’s survived by her siblings; Mildred Hotchkiss, Francis (Diane) Kirk, Alfred (Liz) Kirk, Emily Coutts, James (Trisha) Kirk, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mae is also survived by her children and grandchildren; Lorri (Barry Ehman), and their children Mary (Drew Kells), Dustin Ehman and Kristen (Chris) Vanthuyne; son Larry and his children Jaezila (Marty) Wushke, Jaiden (Jaelise), Delia (Bryan Axman) and Gwynneth (Jordan) Miller; and son Wade (Camille) and their children Makenna and Carys. Mae is also survived by her growing crew of adoring great-grandchildren; Nolan and Declan Kells, Kailee Dymond, Colson Ehman, Taelyn and Finley Vanthuyne, Alva Axman, Hugh Wushke, Aiden Miller and Rory, Coen and Brooks Crittenden.

It was hard not to love Mae. She was fun, kind and quick to greet everyone with a big smile and hug. She saw the good in everyone and never hesitated to let people know how much they meant to her and why. In true Mae fashion, one of her last requests was for us to thank everyone who went out of their way to make things easier for her over the last few months. She was appreciative beyond measure for the wonderful care and support she received.

The family invites relatives and friends to a celebration of Mae’s life at Watrous United Church on Saturday, November 16, 2019. There will be a short Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. followed by a come-and-go lunch in the lower level of the church until 1:00 p.m. For those who so wish, donations in memory of Mae can be directed to the Watrous Palliative Care Unit, Box 130, Watrous, SS S0K 4T0.
