Obituary for Donalda MacLellan

Closing her book of life, Donalda Patricia MacLellan (McDonald) of Liberty, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully at the age of 71 at the Long Lake Integrated Facility in Imperial, Saskatchewan with her family by her side on October 26th, 2019.
Donalda was born on March 7th, 1948 in Regina Saskatchewan. She was the only daughter of Patrick and Bertha McDonald and was raised alongside her 3 brothers, Don, Dale, and Darcy McDonald.
In 1971, Donalda married the love of her life, Garth and moved to a farm west of Liberty, Saskatchewan. She transitioned well into living the life of a farmer’s wife. She became an excellent cook and could bake anything but was especially known for her pies and she had the "best buns in town!" In 1980, they built a house in the community of Liberty where they raised their family.
Donalda began working part time at the Imperial Palliser Regional Library in Imperial, Saskatchewan in 1986 and retired in 2014 after 28 years of being the most amazing librarian. She always had a smile for everyone who walked through the doors of the library and was able to find the perfect book for each of her patrons. Donalda was also a dedicated part time employee at Lewis & Company in Imperial.
Donalda is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Garth MacLellan and their children, Kyle (Rachelle), Gina (Conrad), Aaron (Darsann), and Chad (Kathleen). She is also survived by their most cherished treasures, their nine grandchildren, Kaiden, Siara, Cameron, Madison, Brendon, Paisley, Drayson, Cole, and Cohen.
Donalda was predeceased by her father, Patrick McDonald in 1975 and her mother, Bertha McDonald in 1991.
Besides spending time with her family, Donalda loved all of her extended family and friends dearly and cherished each moment she got to spend with them. She loved to spend time in her beautiful yard in Liberty gardening, birdwatching, sitting in her gazebo reading, and watching her grandchildren play in the fresh outdoors. In the winter months she treasured the time she spent in Mesa, Arizona with special friends, both old and new. She looked forward to getting away from the cold each winter to spend time in a warmer climate but could only go for a couple months because she longed to be home with her family in Canada.
A funeral service for Donalda will be held at 11:00 am at the Roman Catholic Church in Imperial, Saskatchewan on November 2nd, 2019. Lunch will follow immediately in the Imperial Community Centre.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Long Lake Integrated Facility Auxiliary or to the Imperial Library.
