Obituary for Robert McNichol

It is with sadness, we announce that God called Robert David McNichol home on Friday Oct. 18, 2019. Robert was born July 21, 1946 at Nokomis, Saskatchewan. He grew up on the family farm NE of Nokomis, attending Richfarms and Nokomis schools. After school he began mixed farming with his Dad, although he claims he started farming at age 4 picking rocks with his Grampa McNichol.
November 8, 1969 Robert married Colleen Badham of Nokomis at Anglican Christ Church. They were blessed with two sons – Keith Robert & Ian Douglas.
Robert loved the land and farming. He also loved being in the Boreal forest smelling the trees. The family made countless trips camping & fishing in Northern Saskatchewan. In the late 1980’s Robert leased a Registered Trapline in Northern Saskatchewan. This soon led to his starting Kutawagan Outfitters for big game north of the Torch River along the Hansen Lake road.
Robert was also involved in his community. He served on Town of Nokomis council and served 19 years as councillor for the RM of Mount Hope 279. He was a Scout leader in early years and later years lead Scout camping trips in the Northern Saskatchewan. He enjoyed curling, golf, snowmobiling and cross country skiing. He gave his family an appreciation for the outdoors.
Robert & Colleen enjoyed travelling together and the last 15 years they spent some winter months on Vancouver Island.
After his health failed he spent his time going to the farm to supervise and help out anyway that he could. He also became a collector of vintage vehicles.
He loved & was very proud of all his family. He readily accepted & loved new additions to the family.
Robert was predeceased by his parents Annie & Wilbert; his parents-in–law Isabel & Harry Badham; sister-in-law Shirley Badham; Nephew Michael McNichol.
Robert is survived by his wife of 50 years, Colleen; his two sons Keith(Tracy) and Ian(Janie); his grandchildren Tessa(David), Peyton(Wil), Daegan(Kayla), Hallee, Rylee, Isabel, Corban, Lily and David. He is also survived by his siblings Lyle (Francis), Anne (Irv) Martens, Claude (Ruth) and brothers-in-law Walter Badham and George (Iris) Badham. He is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews.
