Obituary for Bev Crawford

Beverley Lauretta Crawford, age 82, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on June 28, 2019. Born and raised in Wilkie by Bob and Thelma Smith.

Bev met her husband, Burt Crawford, on a blind date in 1956 and was married two years later. They spent the first few years of their married life between Edmonton and Calgary where she worked as a secretary and executive assistant. In 1961, they moved to Watrous and took over the movie theatres from Burt’s parents.

Bev was a dedicated mother to her three daughters, supporting them in all their activities. She was an avid seamstress, shopper, enjoyed baking and travelling. She was a member of the Kinette’s club of Watrous, and loved music - herself playing the piano and organ. In the summer, you would always find Bev at the drive-in selling tickets.

Later in life, Bev and Burt became snowbirds, wintering in Yuma and spending time with family and friends. Bev loved visiting flea markets and popping down to Mexico.

Bev is survived by her husband Burt Crawford; sisters Louise (Ralph McMaster), Lorrie Smith (Larry Ross); daughters Susan (Kevin Hein), Shannon (Nazir Jamal) and Jayne Crawford; grandchildren Deena and Kosta Efthimiadis, and nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Watrous United Church, Watrous, Saskatchewan on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Helen Herr officiating. Interment in Watrous Cemetery at a later date. For online condolences or tributes please visit http://www.fotheringham-mcdougall.com
