Obituary for Robert William "Bob" Vickaryous

Robert William "Bob" Vickaryous
Vickaryous, Robert (Bob) William
Feb. 26, 1937 – Jan. 4, 2018
Robert William (Bob) Vickaryous born Feb 26, 1937 in Simpson,SK passed away peacefully at Manitou Lodge on Thursday Jan 4th, 2018.
Bob was the youngest son of John (Jack) & Wilhelmina (Meenie) (Pluym) Vickaryous. Bob moved to Venn area at age 2 and attended Geneseo School and then Venn School. He also went to Moose Jaw for electrical training. He married Elizabeth Clark, August 8,1964 and had 3 children, Lorna, Corrinne and Ian (Norm). Bob had various jobs throughout his life: store keeper/postmaster, telephone repairman, electrician, and truck driver for G Anderson Trucking at Central Canada Potash Mine (now Mosaic). Probably the best and most important job he had was being our Dad. He taught us so many things but most of all to have manners & be nice to others. Dad was not a religious man but he always lived by the golden rule, do unto others. He faithfully donated blood as often as he could, receiving recognition from Canadian Blood Services. Mom & Dad always made sure we had what we needed before anything else; Dad made sure we came first.
Dad enjoyed intelligent conversation, even a little political talk once in awhile. He was always aware of the latest news and enjoyed staying up to date with what the rest of the world was up to. He was a master at crossword and jigsaw puzzles, in earlier days the bigger the better. In Bob’s younger years he was a member of the Watrous Judo club earning various belts over the years.
Bob was a teaser, always coming up with some smart remark or a nickname for someone. He only did if he liked you, so consider it a compliment. Dad enjoyed his grandchildren very much. Following their activities either by attending or looking at pictures of what they had been up to.
Bob is predeceased by his parents, Jack & Meenie, as well as eight half siblings. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth (Betty) & children, Lorna (Lawrence) Ingerman. Corrinne (Brian) Dennis, Ian (Tracy) & 6 grandchildren Cally, Justin, Cassidy, Thomas, Tatiana, and Dayton. Sister in law, Lenora Vickers & numerous nieces & nephews. Memorial donations may be made to Manitou Lodge Auxiliary or Venn Community Hall. For online condolences, tributes or to make a donation in his memory please visit fotheringham-mcdougall.com
