Obituary for Larry Bryan Gavel

Larry Bryan Gavel
Larry Bryan Gavel was born in Kerrobert, Sask on June 17, 1947 to his parents, George and Dorothy Gavel. He had an older sister, Marie and two younger brothers Dale and Melvin. He was only a baby when the family moved to Comox, B.C. and they resided in the Langley area for years to come.

In his late teens, Larry decided to move back to Saskatchewan. As a young man starting out he worked as a farmhand for some local farmers. It was in 1967 he crossed paths with the love of his life, Linda Hulm. They married September 21, 1968. A family soon came along and they had a son Lance, shortly thereafter they had a daughter Leanne.

Larry worked at the Potash Mine for years in order to provide for his little family. He took some classes in Moose Jaw to learn to weld and fabricate. This enabled him to better provide for his family. It was not long after that a second daughter Lyndsey was born to them.

As this family grew, Larry decided it was in their best interest to move out west to Langley, B.C. As he worked hard as a welder fabricator their family continued to grow and two more daughters came along, Lynette and Laura.

As time passed and children grew up, Larry became a Grandpa to fourteen. After retiring early, he and Linda decided to move to Saskatchewan to care for and assist Linda’s parents, whom he loved dearly. He was always looking for a reason to give Ruth a big hug.

Larry will be fondly remembered for his willingness to help others, his kind and generous spirit. He was an industrious, God-fearing and hospitable man. He could light up any room with his big grin and you never left his house without a big bear hug.

Larry will be missed by his wife of 48 years, Linda, his son Lance (Tasha Nicklas), and four daughters Leanne (Greg Doore), Lyndsey (Nathan Weiss), Lynette (Kenney Carlson) and Laura (Brian White). Larry had fourteen grandchildren: Alexis, Jonathan, Madison, Brooklyn, Sullivan, Dorian, Donovan, McKenzie, Callaghan, Bailey, Aidan, Gemma, Taia and Midori.

Larry was raised a Jehovah’s Witness and dedicated his life to Jehovah when he was baptized at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA 1963. He served as an elder in the local congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and enjoyed assisting others to learn truths in God’s word that can benefit and comfort them in the future such as Rev. 21:3, 4 where it reads, “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.”
