Obituary for Joseph Murray "Joe" Volk

VOLK: Joseph Murray (Joe)
It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband and father in the early hours of Jan 24, 2013 at his residence in Watrous at the age of 85. Joe was born in the Allan district on Sept 9, 1927 to Jacob and Barbara (Usselman) Volk. He attended Oxford Plain School. In 1955 Joe married Iris Kish of Young and they were blessed with three children, Linda, Terry and Marilyn. He was a wonderful husband and father and they always felt surrounded by his love. He also had a great love for his two special little grand puppies Jaida and Kianna. We are blessed with many wonderful memories of times together. Joe and Iris moved from the family farm to Watrous in 1997. Joe had a great passion for the farming community. He loved music, dancing, pool, curling, baseball and was an avid card player. He always enjoyed visiting with family and friends and could always strike up a conversation with anyone he met. He would often take a drive to the farm and help with farming duties if needed. Joe enjoyed life until he underwent surgery in 2011 which impacted his quality of life. Joe was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Barbara Volk, in laws Steve and Clara Kish, brother in law Everett Kish, sisters in law, Ruth Kish, Lynn Kish, Marie Porter, Reta Silzer and niece Cheryl Silzer. Joe is lovingly remembered by his wife Iris, daughter Linda, son Terry, daughter Marilyn (Kim) Burnside, grand puppies Jaida and Kianna, sisters Ida (Arny) Singer, Olga Burke, brother Andrew (Mildred) Volk, brothers in law Reg (Lucille) Kish, Chuck Porter and Frank Silzer and many nieces and nephews and cousins. Interment will take place at a later date in St.Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Young Sask.
