Obituary for Margaret Evelyn Enns (Reimer)

Margaret Evelyn Enns (Reimer)
Margaret Evelyn Enns was born in Orenburg, Russia on December 31, 1922 to Gerhard and Katharina Reimer. When she was three years old, Margaret emigrated with her family to Canada. They lived first in southern Saskatchewan, then moved up to Fairholme (Glenbush area) to homestead with Gerhard’s brother and family. After a couple of years, both Reimer families trekked down to Coaldale, in southern Alberta, where Mom lived for most of her life.

Mom was one of five sisters, and had many wonderful memories of her childhood. She also had two step-siblings and two half-brothers.

In her youth, Mom dedicated her life to Jesus, and this relationship sustained her throughout her life.

Mom married John Enns in 1949. They were a great team all their married life. They had three children: Bill (Marlene), Janice (Wayne), and Linda (Lyse). As the years passed, Mom and Dad were blessed with five grandchildren: Theresa, Lorraine, Wendy, Karla and Dennis. Mom and Dad loved their grandkids as much as they loved their children, a fact reflected in the love that flowed back from them to her over the years.

Mom and Dad travelled a lot in their retirement years, most often to see their kids, but also to the States, the Caribbean, Australia and New Zealand. In addition to travelling, Mom and Dad had many good friends with whom they enthusiastically enjoyed playing board games and cards. Mom passed her love of games on to her grandkids and was always ready to try new crafts and activities with them.

In 1994, Dad passed away. Mom lost her best friend and the love of her life. It was a difficult transition to widowhood, but she courageously carried on. For the following ten years, during tax season, Mom worked with Bill and Marlene at their busy accounting firm. She so enjoyed working alongside her son.

During those same years, Mom continued to adventure, enjoying her travels with Linda and Lyse to Europe, California and BC.

Mom was blessed with eighteen great-grandchildren! She adored her great-grands as much as they adored her.

Mom often spoke about how much she cared for her nieces and nephews and their families, who were such an important and cherished part of her daily life.

During the last year of Mom’s life, she moved to Saskatchewan to live with Jan and Wayne. She was so happy to be part of a busy farm and family, visiting with her great-granddaughters often.

For her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many loved ones, there was no better cheerleader and supporter than Mom. We will miss her so.
