Obituary for
Burkitt Clarence Lewis
Lewis Clarence Burkitt was born on October 7, 1924 at Amazon, SK. He was the youngest and last survivor of the 5 children born to Joseph and Mary Burkitt. Dad was a farmer, and was always anxious to get into the field in the springtime. Dad married Margaret Lord of Bethune, SK on December 29, 1956 and the two began their lives together in Watrous. Their lives were busy starting a family, farming and Margaret working as a Registered Nurse. Watrous was their home, but to dad Amazon was truly his home roots. Dad’s love for farming soon became dad’s love for nature. He would spend countless hours driving around the countryside looking at the beauty of nature the world had to give. Dad was predeceased by his best friend, his dog Chevy, who has been waiting in the driver’s seat for him, since they parted. Dad passed away peacefully at the Watrous Union Hospital on September 4, 2011 at the age of 86. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 54 years Margaret. His four daughters, Colleen Burkitt (Emile) St. Paul, Alberta, Maureen Gartner (Les) Watrous, SK, Lynn Burkitt (Bob) Medicine Hat, Alberta and Lori Meddins (Greg) Young, SK. Also to mourn his passing are his five grandchildren, Lacey Meddins (Craig), Marcie Halyk (Ryan), Riley Campbell, Brady Campbell, and Hailey Campbell. His four great grandchildren Carson and Harper Anderson and Keaton and Grady Halyk.
